Most issues can be resolved by following below steps:
- Unplug all devices and cables from HyperJuice
- Connect each device individually one-by-one from the highest power consumption to the lowest (e.g. laptops -> tablets -> smartphones -> small USB devices etc.)
Every time a device is connected or removed, HyperJuice recalibrates the power allocation to each port (see note about cables below)
If only 1 USB-C device is connected, all 100W will be allocated to that port. The device will draw whatever power it requires up the maximum of 100W. If a second USB-C device is connected, the first USB-C device will get 65W and the second USB-C device will get 30W. 65W + 30W = 95W
- 1C Device: 100W
- 2C Devices: 65W (first connected) + 30W (second connected)
- 2C/1A Devices: 45W (first) + 30W (second) + 12W (USB-A)
- 2C/2A Devices: 45W (first) + 30W (second) + 12W + 12W
- 1A Device: 18W
- 2A Devices: 12W + 12W
- 1C/1A Devices: 80W + 12W
- 1C/2A Devices: 65W + 12W + 12W
Note about cables:
Power distribution will only recalibrate when the load changes, that is when you connect or disconnect a device. Inserting/removing cables alone will not cause the charger to recalibrate. So it is fine to leave the cables alone on the charger. The only exception to the rule is USB-C/USB-A to Apple Lightning cables and USB-C/USB-A to Apple Watch charging cables as they will present as a load to the charger and reserve power from the charger. If you are experiencing issues with calibration, unplug these cables until you need to use them.
Does charging keep restarting?
Charging Apple Watch?
Apple Watch is known to start/stop charging to control the temperature of the Apple Watch (this also happens with the original Apple charger). If you are using a USB-A to Apple Watch cable, the charger will recalibrate because Apple Watch will make it appear like the cable/load is disconnected. The workaround is to use a USB-C to Apple Watch cable. USB-C has additional CC pins that USB-A does not have so when the Apple Watch stops/ starts charging, the connection is still seen as connected and the charger will not recalibrate.
