hi kelvin. my hyperdrive 6-in-1 lights up when it's plugged into a computer or an ipad pro, but it doesn't detect anything that's plugged into the drive itself. i heard we're supposed to install a firmware update, but i can't find it anywhere

Oh wow. I’m kinda freaking out right now. I’ve been trying to get this hub to work for over half a year now, trying once or twice a month, and there was seriously nothing detected; usb, hdmi, earphones, everything, even though the blue light on the hyperdrive was on. And then I left a comment here yesterday and did what u told me to do, kelvin, and all of a sudden IT WORKS AGAIN!! It’s what I’ve been doing all along, but different results. Thank God, I guess? I have noo idea how it happened, but anyway, thanks for the quick reply

Hi, Kelvin. I have the same problem that Catherine did. I have repeatedly tried to connect my Hyperdrive 6-in-1 to my iPad Pro 2020, and the icon doesn’t show up in the Files app. The drive is plugged in, the blue light is on, but it seems dead. I have turned the iPad off and back on, even with the drive plugged in. At this point, I wonder if it’s even working? Don’t know what to do next. Can you please help? Cheryl - scribette@comcast.net

Scribette. It could be the file format of your USB drive is not supported by iOS.  If you use this USB drive on Windows computer, there is a chance that the drive is in NTSF format which is not compatible with iOS. You have to reformat the USB drive into ExFAT or FAT32 format to be recognized in iOS.

Thank you for your prompt reply! Here’s what I’ve done:

    1) The little blue light is on, so I know it’s getting power.

    2) I removed the cover, and it was the first time the LogiMgr Installer popped up, so that’s progress. I took a photo and have attached it.

    3) I did unplug the external hard drive. (I have tried to detect the Hyperdrive both with and without the external hard drive.) I turned Bluetooth off for my MX Keys and then inserted the keyboard dongle into the slot. The keyboard did not work with the dongle inserted. (I had not yet tried that since I’ve been strictly Bluetooth.)

    4) Another thought: the hard drive I’m using is several years old. It was originally formatted for NTFS, but I totally reformatted it for exFAT as recommended for the iPad Pro. Would it be possible that it’s too old? But then, that wouldn’t explain the keyboard dongle not working.

UPDATE: It may be that my external hard drive is not working properly. I just tried a memory card, and I can see and open the files! The Hyperdrive shows up under locations as “No Name,” but that’s okay.

My next step will be to check into putting a DCIM folder onto the external hard drive. That may make my photo files work on the iPad Pro. Right now, I’m going to say part of the Hyperdrive is working and showing up on the iPad Pro as it should. The two keys were to take the iPad Pro out of its case to ensure a proper fit, and to try another type of port.

NEXT STEPS: Because of the dongle not working, I’m still not sure if that particular USB port is okay, but I’m going to check into that. Also, I need to go back and create a DCIM folder on my external hard drive to see if that helps it to work. Worst case, I’ll have to buy a new external hard drive to see if that works. Stay tuned ...

With or without creating the DCIM folder should not be the caused of not detecting USB drive on iPad through the HyperDrive hub.

Please check the way how the HyperDrive is plugged into the iPad, the black flap should be on top of the iPad screen (HyperDrive logo is facing backward, not toward you)

Please also reach out to support@hypershop.com for replacement if it is still not working with a correct connection.

Thank you, Kelvin. Will do. I’m also concerned because when the camera card was detected there was no name, and the correct icon didn’t show up under Locations. Finally, the extension doesn’t seem to be working even with the camera card that did work without it. I think I simply have a unit that doesn’t work properly.
