Do I need a charging cord to charge the iPad with the HyperJuice Stand?

Yes, you do.  Please use the genuine 30-pin USB cord which comes with the iPad.  

One end is the 30-pin male connector that goes to the iPad, and the other end is a regular USB plugged into a USB port on the Stand.
